Thank you to everyone who made it out yesterday for “Connecting Community: A Gathering an Opportunity for CLE”. It was a great way to kick-off Native American Heritage Month. We had over 40 people in attendance, and had some great speakers. We were so busy connecting that we did not get good photos! Next time!
This event was the Section’s first in-person CLE since 2019. It was great to connect with long-time friends and colleagues, practitioners of federal Indian law and Tribal law, law students and community members. We also connected with NAYA to host several Native American artists/artisans who were selling art and crafts. I bought two pairs of beaded earrings.
The schedule was jam-packed and we had a lot of great presentations on Tribal sovereignty, Tribal courts, and Access to mental health services. We learned a lot about these topics from our excellent speakers.
I was able to close out the event with a presentation that included some movement, yoga, and breathing practices. I also included links to resources to help lawyers and legal professionals to support their mental health. I really appreciated the opportunity as well-being is a passion of mine.
We look forward to hosting additional events soon! Please consider joining the Indian Law Section.
